BSc and Postgraduate Degree in Education and Qualified Teacher Status

Originally from South Africa, Ben is an enthusiastic educator whose educational journey blends academic excellence with a commitment to nurturing a passion for learning. Holding a BSc and postgraduate degree in Education, Ben integrates his expertise into his teaching approach. Ben has spent four years teaching in Japan and is now in his second year at TIS. Ben takes pride in crafting a caring and supportive classroom environment where students feel empowered to explore their potential. Outside of the classroom, Ben also contributes to the school’s wider interschool sporting program. 

Before immersing himself in the international school environment, Ben taught English in Japanese elementary and junior high schools in the beautiful countryside of Ehime, Japan. During this time, he discovered his passion for education and gained an appreciation of Japanese culture. Beyond education, Ben finds solace in activities such as swimming, weightlifting, and avidly following rugby. Ben speaks English and is continually working on his Japanese.
