Akiko started her journey at an international school in Japan in 2000 as a K-12 Japanese teacher. After teaching the PYP and DP and serving as an Elementary Japanese Coordinator there for over a decade, she moved to an IB World School in the USA as an MYP and DP Japanese teacher and a Department Chair. Most recently, she was a faculty member in the International Education program at a University for three years.
Akiko has taught various levels of the Japanese language across all three IB programs and led multiple service learning. She looks forward to learning and growing with students, the team, and the community. She loves nature and animals. Akiko speaks Japanese and English.
