Sam is an accomplished Individuals and Societies teacher with ten years’ experience in Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand, and Thailand. His teaching spans IBDP Business Management, History, Geography, ESL, and Commerce, and has been enriched by pre-teaching experiences in broadcast journalism and sales. In his quest to foster intrinsic motivation, Sam has driven notable gains in student performance. Recognised for his collaborative spirit, engaging pedagogy, and commitment to pastoral care, he blends academic rigour with creativity and student-centred learning. He’s surprisingly good at lawn bowls and cycling and has run a variety of clubs at his previous schools including table tennis, bowling, and swimming. Off campus, you might find Sam watching the SailGP, reading about ancient Rome, or attempting to groom his cat without sustaining a scratch injury… A lifelong learner, Sam holds multiple academic honours and professional certifications, and draws inspiration from his grandfather, Sir Edmund Hillary’s legacy of education, service, and perseverance. Sam is fluent in English and is currently studying Japanese in his free time.
